 yeah.. I can remember Mr. Burley Kicking a desk of the person in front of me.. someone who must have had a last name before mine..i almost jumped out of my seat hahaha....
  But if it wasnt for him and mr.sutherland.. i would have NEVER gotten through the History regents!!!
He was a really sweet guy!!!!!!
 I feel so bad that he couldnt make the last reunion :(

I would like to add to the  lovely Ms. Russo's  food review with the addition of EARTH FOODS on the  500 block  of Warren Street. Excellent sandwiches and  soups, many  vegetarian choices. The grilled portabella on their home made wheat bread is outstanding.

As for the Winter Walk it does bring out many people. Hopefully it is "winter like" that evening. Have attended walks in the bitter cold and have been  very unhappy to do the  walk in  50 degree weather............30 degrees with  light snow will do the job !!!

Just a reminder to all those in the area,the first Saturday in December the 6th is Winter Walk. It is a great time to once again experience Warren Street in it's glory.
For those who have never been you will certainly surprised at the number of "locals" who will be out and about.

Hi Sean . . .my autumn is going well despite also having to go through readjustments.  It is good that your mom still has some friends in the area, and hopefully they are spry enough to bring her around to reintroduce her to the area.  I was fortunate enough to run into an acquaintance on my first weekend  back to Hudson in Shop Rite.  We hit it off and went apple picking and have been doing lots of things since then.  I have had the opportunity to eat at some of the local restaurants.  The main street, Warren Street is full of these. . .of course some better than others.  As far as strictly vegetarian, I am not sure of any, however, I know that the Red Dot offers dishes such as a curried vegetable dish that is simply scrumptious, as well as some delectable salads.  Baba Louie's had fantastic vegetarian pizzas and salads.  There is also a little tea house/café on third street, the Verdigris Café that on the day I visited, had a yummy veggie chili, as well as some hearty soups which were also vegetarian – split pea, and a equally yummy squash/carrot soup.    It is a pleasant little café decorated with lots of art by local artist, as well a variety of gifts.  There really are not any music cafes per se in Hudson, but there are occasional musical venues here and there.   On upper Warren, the Wonderbar provides the best burgers in case your mom has a change of heart.  I did have a delicious split pea soup there, and by the looks of the popularity of the martini there at lunchtime, I am guessing they make a good martini.  Next door to Wonderbar is another café that serve teas and coffees, and offers comfortable seating to have a conversation with someone, or to bring a book or laptop.   Cool bookstore would be Spotted Dog on Warren Street, where you can browse and also get a cup of coffee, tea or even a beer.  Of course there are all the antique shops and art galleries on Warren Street to peruse.   There is always something going on at the Opera House on Warren Street, whether it is an art class or a book reading. 

Since your mom is moving from Western Massachusetts, I am not sure if she is interested in Great Barrington or Stockbridge at all.  It is close enough to Claverack to take a ride to.  There she will find a great deal of interesting things that are worth a day trip.

If you would like I can collect some of the informational magazine for your mom and either send them to you or her.   Please let me know if I can be of any help.  

Since I am also returning after many years, I can only provide a few ideas.  Hopefully others will provide their input.

i am temporarily out of commission.  i did make it to hudson safely   my mommy and daddy only have dial up internet and so i have been isolated from the outside world.  i have however been adopted by a local family who is allowing me to use their computer . . . you might have heard of them . ..the Abitabiles.

on wednesday, my parents will be brought "up to speed" with technology and will get high speed internet. . . .goody, goody, i cannot wait!  . . .and i am sure you cannot wait either!

Sean . . . .isn’t it funny how we relate certain things to people or things in our lives?  In your case, you are fortunate that Kyle (the boyfriend) was not as destructive as a hurricane.  When I first moved to Florida in 2004, we got hit immediately by Hurricane Charlie, the day after our dog Charlie ran away.    I believed at the time, it was an omen of things to come.  Looking back at how tumultuous my life has been since I have been here is evidence enough to confirm my belief.

Enjoy your jam at the pub.   Maybe some of us here from Hudson can take a trip to MA to see you play some day.

Does anyone remember the translation  of “Ich bin ein Berliner” something said my John F. Kennedy in West Berlin?  In the context of his address, it meant "I am a Berliner. "  Urban  legend stated the literal translation as "I am a jelly donut.” 

As many of you might know, I am returning to Hudson.  Somehow the translation of that got slanted and had turned into I am moving to Hudson to be with a particular person.  This make me feel like the jelly donut.      

My plans to return to Hudson were in place long before I connected with anyone from the reunion.  As some of you might be curious, I just wanted to clarify a couple of things:

1.       No,  I am not pregant.

2.       No, I am not returning to Hudson to be with any particular person. 

You have to put the past behind you, before you move on . . . . my past is Florida . . .my future is unknown.    My family and roots are in Hudson, and this is a great place of comfort for me, and a great place to think about what will be next.

Much to my chagrin, my blondness lost the popularity contest.   My closest friends prefer me as a brunette . . .so the old pic is back in place!   

UPDATE ON MY MOVE:   I will be rolling into Hudson in about a week or so.  Please try to contain your excitement.

Sadly I was not able to attend the service, but my friends shared with me how spectacular it was.  He was loved by so many people and deserved the fanfare farewell that he received.   However sad it was, it also displayed a joyous celebration of his life, which was so appropriate.   I was quite moved by what David Wrigley and Bob Tomaso shared with me about the service, and I know it was quite emotional for them both as well as for everyone.

Before the reunion, I had not seen Bugsy in years, but remembered he was always so cheerful and could make you smile.  When I saw him at the reunion – both Kozels and Polish Club, I saw that same cheerfulness, and I was so glad that I got to say hello to him and talk to him.  Seeing his happiness gave me a feeling of relief and I knew he would go peacefully.  Bugsy had such a positive attitude and enjoyed life.  It was so great to see that Bugsy was enjoying his life even though he was on his final journey.  I know I have not seen the emotions of all those closest to him who spent the last days with him, and cannot imagine what it was like.

Bob said during the service, he was probably was looking down smiling, and I bet a tear came to his eye also. . . I am sure it was a tear of happiness.   He was a very rich man, in that he was loved by so many people; and these friendships and relationships are worth more than anything. 

He shall always remain with everyone in spirit.

I was fortunate to have been able to spend most of Bugsy's final days with him. When diagnosed in January I knew I would  be taking the final journey with my long time friend and decided to  go along for the ride with him all the way. We drove to Albany weekly for his chemo treatments which gave us time to talk about the  good old days. Things  took a turn for the worse two weeks ago when we went for his treatment, he was  hospitalized but wanted to come home. It was quite a struggle for him but we did get him home. His freinds  and family spent 24/7 with him, making sure he was confortable as can be. His highlight was going to the Chatham Fair, proudly escorted by the  Greenport rescue squad, Sherriff's dept., and State Police........that meant so much to him. Many of us saw him  in his last days and he was thankful for all the love shown by his freinds. WE saw him though this until the end.......a large firemans funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 AM for those that can attend.  WE love ya Bugs.

PS: One of his last good weeks was when he attended both days of the 70's reunion..........he was so happy to have been well enough that weekend to attend.

Linda, Linda , Linda...........my  assistant weather girl........my  party girl.......and  after all the adortaion i poured on you,  you publicly place me in the "Nerd" Category ???  I am crushed, heartbroken and going to have to tell Sheila who may now ban  both of us from the site forever !!!  

I agree with Sean Smith . .. it definitely was more than a reunion, and any cliques we happen to have in High School pretty much stayed there.  We didn’t so much break into sub societies instantaneously, as we did into natural classes of cliques based on values and ethics more often adopted from our home environment, or from an already established class . . . . like the hotties from SMA.  However, I did notice a couple of nerds, who were still nerds .  . . for instance Bob Tomaso;  let me see . . . jock  . . .I would say . . .Michael Sandagato -lol - you know we love you Mike;  I did go in my hippie shirt on Friday . . . my mommy told me so!  Remember, I was a hippie!   Adulthood is wonderful, and we do feel more natural and more inclined to express ourselves and recognizing the need to do so - good point Sean.

Sean, no need to apologize for prattling on . . . their was no prattling!   Your thoughts are quite meaningful and am sure appreciated by all . . . and I agree middle age definitely activates the “sentimentality gland.”  . . .of course, this is something I read, not knowledge from personal experience since I have not reached that age yet!!!

Read in the Hudson Register Star of this huge reunion described as  a "mini- WoodstocK"  by a Matt Murrell............sorry we missed it....let us know next time

turns out, this timeframe wasn't conducive to fit-in
the number of folks I want to see.  (Too large an extended family to see everyone without missing some).   Airline travels are challenging cross-country.
This site is wonderful and had reconnected me with some wonderful memories!  Maria, enjoy all of the gang you'll see there!  As mentioned, you and Linda look the same! Sheila, Cyn, etc., great to know you're all doing well!

Well it seems as if Ms. Russo's big burley bodyguards have scared some sense into Mr. Crank and his posse and they will make an appearance at this years event. As I write this post to the guest book it appears that Mr. Crank and another member of his   previously mentioned posse are cruising the streets of Albany, NY.......could it be that he finally realizes that Mr. T rules downtown and no long longer requires his "pass" to go below 3rd St?  Could it be the fear of Linda  "partygirl" Russo's behemoth friends in Miami? Or could it be that Mr. Crank has simply run out of girls in Hudson area?

I will be unable to attend this year. I did go to the 20th and the 30th and had a great time at both. Nice picture of me, Moe, Lester and Mike practicing for the big GIG at Jamesway. (Moe wanted us all to go to Woodstock later that year) Senior year it was "Tobacco Road" with Doug Garrison, Benny Poppa, Billy McGee and Jim Calvin(Taconic Hills).

I'm an HHS Alternate School alumni from the days when the Alternate School was cool and everyone else at the high school treated us quite badly...but I don't suppose anyone remembers that? Did go to the last reunion, saw who I wanted to see, moving to NC this year, won't be able to make it, sorry!  To all the Alternate School grads from the 70's - YOU ROCK!
